The art direction was very specific. Zombie, Zombie, Zombie in gory text, and only text. I had a few alternatives sketched with more clever integration of the text into the design, but they were shot down.

The concept wasn't mine. I tried to make the most of it. I think this'd look neat in glow in the dark ink at least.

    I try to have all my lines describe form volumetrically. If the hatching works against the form, you're making your job harder than it need be.

    love the illustration, hate the FF5 logo in there. It just does not fit with you super sweet illustration.

    I hear ya. Nothing I could do about that. I tried to dress it up (I gorified it in earlier sketches), but they wanted it stock.

    Each stroke was drawn. Same process used as with a real pencil.

    Your volumetric hatching always puts me in awe. It's such a shame that the band didn't let you jazz up their logo. I know you could've done wonders to it.
