    What?

    Any critiques?

Yes. Don't use this concept. It makes absolutely no sense and isn't executed very well. Slapping a picture of a shoe that you probably googled, placed random hands there and big blocky text at the bottom just isn't good. Not to mention the Jordan logo is basically stolen and a Jesus head slapped on it. Like I said, the subject is just bad, but design wise the composition just isn't there. There's no flow, no appeal to it. You have two big blocks of color, the shoe and text, at opposite sides with a big gap in between with low lit hands. Just keep practicing man, you'll get there but definitely work on a lot and study how other people do things and develop. Also, looking at your other submission, try to learn about the printing process if your going to get into shirt designs. Different layers for different colors. If you use gradients/soft shadowing you have to know halftones and how stuff gets done.

Also, I'm not sure if your just really religious or if your trying to parody some Jesus stuff, but its not going to appeal to a large group to begin with and will be harder to sell designs of that matter.

Thanks for the critique, but first of all I didn't just "slap" some googled image of a shoe on there. I hand drew the shoe and hands. I actually have some artistic talent unlike many tee designers. Also, of course I've done my research on what other people have done and I know about half tones. It can be easily converted to halftones by the printer. Lastly, I am religious and this design has appealed to many others, maybe not on mintees, but it sure does.

I like how you asked for critiques, then get butthurt after you didn't get what you wanted to hear.

    1. Andrew didn't have to comment, at all. He was honest with you. That shoe and those hands look like they're straight from Google images. Type is horrible and the Jordan/Jesus thing? No.

    2. YOU create the halftones, not the printer.

    3. Just because it may appeal to others (friends, family, church members) doesn't mean Mintees, a community of PROFESSIONAL, GRADE A+ designers will be impressed by it.

I did ask for critiques, but saying that these are google images when in all reality drew them by hand is far more than a critique. And my printer provides halftoning. These are just opinions which pins my opinion vs yours and I'm the designer so I make the call to print or not whether you to think it will sell or not. Thank you for your feedback gentleman.

Second look, I did jump the gun about the google images comment, I can see that they're drawn. Personally I do all my halftones as to make sure the coloring/layers don't get ruined, I assumed the same for everyone else as well. Not sure if your "I have artistic talent unlike some tee designers" comment was a shot at me? It did seem like a bit of a shot at the community though, there's a ton of talent here, no one can put themselves in their place.

I wasn't judging at all either if implied, I couldn't care less about what people believe here or anywhere else, so there was nothing coming from that end. I just try to help a good 95% of the time with my comments in the critiques section.

If you have a specific target/fanbase in mind, more power to you and choose whatever subject matter you like. That's why I said I wasn't sure if you were just really religious or were just choosing it. Either way though, I really don't understand how this makes sense and can't see it spreading outside of a small group that does. If that's not your goal, no problem. But if you want it to be spread to Christians throughout the country, its going to be a challenge.

Purely design oriented, I still stand by my original points about composition and I don't see how that can really be argued too heavily.

No I wasn't taking a shot at the community just at the designers who through crappy images on shirts and call it a design. I was merely defending myself in that I am actually trying, not just finding a cool image to put on a design.

In selling this shirt, I don't plan to go with the "Air Jesus" replacing it with "Swag" which is greatly identified with my target demographic, teenagers like myself.

I'm young and I do appreciate the time it does take to critique my work. I'm just paying my do's and learning the system. I work off of my dad's computer, no adobe, just my pencil and picnik.com. I plan to invest in some actual software, but for the time being I'm having fun making tees to sell to my friends.

Look at Johnny Cupcakes. He threw some very catchy and creative nickname on a shirt and it just took off. I'm working hard and plan to! Thank you again!
