    But mostly Velda Draw.

It's not free though, so check out GIMP!

Most of the others (photoshop/illustrator, ect) do have free trials you can use as well.

    +1 for Velda Draw.

Velda Draw is freaking amazing but the problem is actually getting a copy. They are extremely picky with who they even let buy their software...elitism at its best.

Industry standard is photoshop / illustrator, so I'd start there. Both offer a free 30 day try, along with an Adobe plan to have every piece of software they offer for $30/month for the first year and like 50 a month after that. A good deal overall.

I like Photoshop the best. I am more familiar with it and can work faster in it than other programs. If i HAVE to draw something straight from a tablet i like Manga Studio because it runs smoother and the line-work flows better for my computer/me.

I would find a trial version of Photoshop first and see how you like it, then if you enjoy working with it purchase the full program.

    has anyone tried lightroom 3?
  • DanielAndHisArt

if you are going to do shirt designs i would suggest not using lightroom.
  • Matt Borchert

Lightroom is really intended for people who want to edit photos on a budget, not ideal for artwork.

Using lightroom for shirt designs is like using MS Paint for wedding invitations.
