The story is my girlfriend, her sister and I are all moving to Chicago on September 1st, but haven't secured an apartment. I know it's typically not a good idea to move into a place without seeing it, but I don't really have many options. I've been looking everywhere (domu, hotpads, rent.com, padmapper, livelovely) and so far have come up short.

What I'm asking is has anyone done this before? How'd you pull it off? Can anyone currently living in Chicago offer me any advice or help? It's getting pretty close, and I'm getting nervous and desperate.

    Moved from Denver to Oakland didn't secure an apartment until I was in Nevada.....Have the person who isn't driving search while you drive

    What's the reason for not being able to find a place? You should be able to find a decent place and have them run your paperwork and make sure that your credit is good enough to move in, and then tell them that you will finalize it upon personal inspection on whatever day. Let them know you intend to move in the same day as said inspection.
