New Site

Hello!
So i've been working on my website, and I thought i'd post it up here to see what you guys/gals think.
http://www.a-smith.co.uk
Im aiming to make the switch to a digital role over here in Australia (my new home) so the overall presentation and the professional work i've added tries to reflect that. Will add more in the future, if/when I am allowed.
If anyone finds any bugs, please shout. And if you have any critiques or criticisms, i'd love to hear them!
Thanks for looking!

You've actually hit on what stopped me from center aligning the navigation originally (the prev/next buttons). I felt like they pulled everything together quite nicely, but I completely agree that the nav can feel quite awkward left aligned, especially on the home page.
I'll have a think on what to do with the prev/next buttons. I dont ever use them but feel they are important to have, merely to show that there is more work to be seen within the project. Maybe ill get it in with the project description stuff. I'll post up the results once my internet quits being a whore. Thanks a bunch for the feedback, its really appreciated!
And thank you starryeyez, means a lot!

p.s. I gave the centered nav a try out. Because of the even number of thumbnails horizontally, the type underneath them really throws the centered navigation. The logo on its own looks great up in the center, but that also made the whole thing look wonky when entering the projects. Think ive shot myself in the foot slightly creating borderless imagery!
I'll keep having a play as i was never entirely convinced with the nav, but if anyone has any other suggestions, im all ears.

My only suggestion would be to think about increasing the type size. I just feel it would make things a bit more readable, especially where you've got some grey-on-grey, lower contrast stuff.

No problem! I totally understand the appeal of small type with this kind of design, it does fit the aesthetic; just something to think about in terms of accessibility and clarity for all visitors.

I think my year in branding has lead me to rebel in my own identity hahah. You raise valid points for sure, I may just have to concede defeat :P
I havent started yet, merely had a browse around for studios id like to work with. Going to try and do something a little special with an interactive portfolio and send that around. Luckily ive worked with and got along with a fair few aussies, so im planning to rinse those connections for all they're worth to get some interviews lined up (fingers crossed!).
I really like the layout of the logo and nav that youve mocked up. Im going to try and break the logo out of the grid, have it outside of the container in a fixed position. That way I can align the nav closer to the type on the left hand side, hinting at the grids layout without having to be so precise.
All empty words till my internet is working again though. This dongle makes me want to kill.
