Short answer: A lot. But printing nice multi-color tees is not easy. Not only do you need the proper equipment, more importantly, you also need the experience and know-how which takes month/years to learn.

I went the way you are thinking of going and it cost a lot, took quite some time to get anywhere, but it was a lot of fun and I'm still leaning new techniques everyday. God speed.

A huge amount of time learning how to properly print apparel (it's not easy), a large space with adequate areas for washing out screens with a pressure washer, DRIVE TO DO THINGS ON YOUR OWN.

Focus on those first, then save up a couple thousand for good 4 color press.
