good call. I'm half-Indonesian (born and bred in Australia), but I tread softly on these forums because there is an obvious prejudice (don't deny it). Not everyone, but it does exist. Now I'm saying I would actually attribute a lot to these boards; but none-the-less...
The article / crime is fockin disgusting, but we know why it was posted here.

we complain a LOT about people ripping other people off and when 80% of those doing the stealing happen to be from indonesia (so much so that an outright ban was considered) then everyone begins to wonder why.
to hear it reported that there is a total lack of law enforcement in the country sort of hammers home why it seems acceptable for some people to act with such a lack of conscience, why it seems possible for prostitute villages to exist and why it normalized behavior such as what we see above.

Well I would have posted it even if it happened in austrailia, usa, sweden, china or kenya. I just used the "indonesia-situation" going on in here in the title so that more people would read the article. Cus man, the article is fucked up and I don't really care if it were indonesians or aynone else who did it.

Well; I'm not prepared to google/research, but I would predict that unfortunately crimes of this nature occur in many countries. You have titled the thread "Our Lovely Indonesia" - containing an article about a sadistic crime - which as you can imagine; is at least slightly a sweeping generalization / racial-profiling, no? Maybe this is an odd way of "initiation"? Make some friends that share a dislike?
TBH, I'm not really looking at being defensive or debating; just my 2 cents - I probably shouldn't of even bothered posting because what I say is not going to change your opinion. I was just glancing through the forum - saw "Our Lovely Indonesia", and entered the thread knowing full well that (half) my ethnicity was probably going to be generalized in some way, which was a mistake on my part.
I can promise you, I actually am "a lovely Indonesian", yet I don't have sex with monkeys haha.
Carry on.

HAHA, I love that skit, and was going to post it under my latest comment to shift the dislike from Indonesia to something more light-hearted.

I'm not really entrenched on the whole ripping people off thing here - I actually avoided it simply because it feels like negative energy when hearing bad about my country.
I know that there were (are?) a lot of shirt ripoffs from Indonesian accounts - it would interest me as to how many unique individuals from Indonesia that were/are doing this. Like, 1 person on 20 different accounts as opposed to 20 different people (numbers are higher than that I'm aware, just using that number as an example).
It would totally suck if an entire population of 200 million plus has been stereotyped because of a small group (albeit criminal). Racism sucks, it will NEVER disappear; but if every country is generalized for the criminals that exist in said countries - every country would be chastised - ironically, racism would cease to exist because the prejudice would be in fact everywhere and even spread. What I'm trying to say to those that dislike; dislike equally?
Oh, and I don't know anything about their legal system, but I do know that porn is illegal there and a popular Indonesian musician is actually in jail because a sex tape that leaked. I also know about Schappelle Corby - who is serving a 10 plus sentence for importing marijuana.
And there was a group of criminals called the "Bali 9" that have faced possible death sentences for smuggling heroin in to Indonesia. So a legal system exists. I can't possibly defend their legal system, It's probably fundamentally flawed, but it actually exists.

It's all good maine, no harm no foul; I honestly rarely get involved in any form of debate what so ever. I just felt the need to post my opinion.
Had there been a "what did the mail man bring you" thread on the first page, my attention would of been there instead haha. Those are my favorite type of Mintees threads, so I should probably go find one.
