Can we delete this guy yet?
Posted May 25th, 2012 by Craig Robson
I have always treated this guy with suspicion and got a weird sense of fakeness from his "designs"
after he took down a recent rip when he was called out i decided to let my intuition roam.
and yes, i know we all reference things from time to time but to do it so blatantly and vehemently deny any knowledge of the original every time is shameless.
im sure i dont need to clarify which are his: http://mintees.com/people/176861-rumble-ad

It's the job of the designer to inform the client of what they can and cannot do, and to come up with something similar yet original to fit the clients needs.

Let me preface this by saying that I obviously don't have a crystal clear picture of what the culture/society is like in Indonesia BUT from what I've gathered over the years, this kind of thing just isn't looked down up on in that part of the world. There are no laws against it there (Or the laws are not enforced) and it just isn't seen as theft or wrong in their society. In their mind it's perfectly acceptable to take artwork off the internet and use it for their own purposes. I think that's why when you confront so many of these rippers, they just don't understand that what they are doing is even wrong. They were most likely never taught otherwise.
And if that's the case, then you can see how they would think that tracing artwork is even MORE ok because, hey, they actually made it "their own." They put some actual "work" into it rather than just copying & pasting, haha.
I don't mean to make assumptions but that's just what I've gleaned from watching the ridiculousness coming out of that country over the last few years. If I'm wrong maybe one of the Indonesian members can clarify. I would actually love to hear their point of view on why artwork theft and bootlegging is so rampant there.

stop talking about racism don't start a drama, it's just about a man from the earth who ripping another man from the earth, my brain is full of fuck if you text about in do nesia..

i think they're just making the point that the amount of tracing and ripping that comes from there is like insane, and are curious about if it's a cultural thing as to why they don't look down on tracing artwork. there is clearly a cultural difference in the way they view artwork. it would be racist to call an indonesian a ripper simply because they are indonesian, but to simply make an observation about a culture's stereotypes with good reason is not racist.
Lmerrill said about 11 months ago
This is actually the type of reaction that could encourage racists responses from minteers. I've seen it happen before. In no way, was what I said, a racist comment by any means. All I'm saying is that if you look purely at the numbers of rippers from around the world, since the beginning of Emptees and/or Mintees, we wouldn't be at all surprised to see that a good majority of them were in fact from indonesia. Just an observation, and my comment was purely cultural, as I mentioned a country, not a race...

It's culturalism, not racism. We're all of the same race. And my brain is full of fuck most of the time, anyway.

honestly, you have drawing ability, you just need to learn that you can't just redraw other people's stuff and call it original.
William Henry said about 13 months ago
For someone you "respects the artists", you have a funny way of showing it. Never knew that ripping someone was a way of showing respect. It doesn't matter if you didn't do a direct trace of their work. Doing your own versions of their designs does not make what you did okay. You ripped their original ideas.
Matt Borchert said about 13 months ago
What you are doing is wrong, no matter how you try to spin it. You CANNOT steal someone else's artwork and concept, regardless if you redraw it (almost exactly the same) or not. It's wrong, and you will never become a respected artist doing that.
Craig Robson said about 11 months ago
sit on it and spin. adios.
Andrew Haines said about 11 months ago
Wasn't there a .gif on the first page of an exact trace? They're literally all the exact same thing except the banners. Unless he's measuring shit out, he's tracing hands down
Matt Borchert said about 11 months ago
I think in his mind since he is tracing over it, it's not stealing. A strange viewpoint indeed.

crazy how someone can actually think like that, take another idea, trace/jedi mind trace and say they were inspired too.
