Word up home-skillets. 8-bit ZOMBIE is dropping the raddest and baddest release to date next month. I'm beyond excited with the new stuff, it's going to be EPIC. Definitely some of the coolest gear to date! =) If you follow 8BZ on twitter or facebook you may have seen some of the sneaky (VERY sneaky, haha) peeks I've been posting. Figured it was time to post a thread on Mintees. =)

(EDIT - Took all the sneak peek thumbnails down, this post was getting annoyingly long. To check out the previews, browse through this thread or head on over to the 8BZ facebook: http://www.facebook.com/8bitZOMBIE )

As some of you know, this release has been a LONG time coming. Life has been crazy these past few months but it feels great to finally be getting ready to release all of this stuff. It'll the worth the wait, I promise! =) As I said, I've got some of the raddest stuff EVER in this release. Took things in a little bit of a new direction with this one. I'm SUPER proud of everyting and I think guys will dig it a ton. FACE WILL MELT & HEADS WILL EXPLODE.

New stuff drops 08/08/11. And apart from rad new tees, tanks and hats, I've got another surprise or two up my sleeve as well.... All and all, should be a big step up for 8BZ. CAN'T WAIT!

I understand going big, but youre literally taking every single cool 80s thing and doing it at once. You just need a monster squad shirt and you've pretty much covered all bases. I would have saved some of these and done more video game stuff, but then again it's not my line
  • 8-bit ZOMBIE

I actually do have some that I had to save, haha. And yeah I did want to go big and I think I accomplished that.

I also wanted to take a break from video games. 8BZ never was all about video games. It's always been a general 80's theme. (Definitely an emphasis on 8-bit games but I've done 80's movie and toy parodies since the beginning) Aside from video games, 80's movies are the other biggest influence in my life. Last summer was a full on video game release. This summer I wanted to do movies.

And yeah that's pretty much what I wanted to do was cover my bases. The 80's movie thing has come back pretty big. Seems like everyone is doing it. So I wanted to kinda put my mark on the movies I love most while I still had the chance.

This still isn't even all of the stuff. There's more I haven't shown...

Thanks. I've got a book filled with ideas for years to come. This is the stuff I love. It's easy for me to come up with design concepts. Between 80's toys, TV shows, cartoons, movies, video games and general pop-culture, I'm not sure if I'll ever run out of inspiration for stuff.

I might blow my 80's load one day and run dry but that day is far from now.

Kyle should know more than anyone that when your a creative person there is no shortage of ideas. There is also no shortage of classic 80's video games, Movies, TV shows either.
  • downrodeo

Yo Ross, as a lot of people are saying, this release is just so amazingly good. You work so damned hard and tirelessly on this, and the efforts are really showing! I just can't say what's my favorite so far, because they are all equally as good as the other. Classic!
  • Cant Draw Can Write

    Tomorrow cant come quick enough.
    So stoked on this release.
  • miles to go

I get what Kyle is saying in the sense of tackling a lot of the crowd favorites from that era in one release but I think this is a good step for you to hopefully go to the next level among brands doing 80s themed clothing. Doing literature, I have an endless supply of inspiration to choose from but the more esoteric I get in those choices, the harder they can be to sell. There are the easy sells and fan favorites like me doing catcher in the rye or a book people hold dear to their memories but people these days can easily look up the background info on a design they like too. Maybe it can turn people on to something they didn't know. If I did a release of every fan favorite book, it could be hard to balance my future lines, but being that you put out a quality, well thought product, it should be fine. Customers are smarter than we sometimes give credit and can be loyal to a brand to the point of wanting to learn about your choices.

I feel like we approach our brands in the same manor and passion and have a similar customer base in terms of loyalty and understanding. I can sell a moby dick tee to someone who hasnt read beyond what they had to in school in the same way you could sell mario or ghostbusters to a fringe 80s fan but i found that putting a page on my site thatnhas links to more information on each selection has helped as I've branched out into some lesser known choices.
