People are gullible
Posted July 7th, 2011 by Tom Neal
Stumbled across this Facebook page today, as some of my friends had 'liked' it.
http://www.facebook.com/pages/First-750000-Get-a-Free-Smiley-Hat-To-Help-Promote-Our-New-Clothing-Line/216218215080241
They claim to be giving away a free hat to the first 750,000 people who like the page, to support the launch of a new clothing company.
That works out to be:
Wholesale hat @ approx $5 per unit x 750,000 = $3,750,000
Sad thing is that there are at least 93,284 gullible people already convinced this is legit!

Precisely. It'll end up becoming the "I think Casey Anthony is a hero" page.

and they ask you to send them shipping details, for any country in the world.
Quite clearly a scam.

I can't see any believable point about it though....
every ten seconds on my news feed it says "(insert name here) and 10 others like (page name)" for this scam.

I wrote a little post on the wall explaining how these designs don't even belong to this fake brand "that needs support", that they stole the images from http://www.coolcats.fr
They just deleted my wallpost.
Fuck these scammers

Yea that seems to be the popular one right now. I can't believe I have friends liking it. I had to tell them, they weren't going to get it.
If you can get people to like it, then cool, because you can definitely promote your brand. I'm curious as to what will happen if they ever do hit 100,000 people. I wonder how many people will get mad when they don't get their free sweater or t-shirt if it's the other one mentioned at the beginning of the post, or if people will not care.
