Lettering/identity/logos

I've been working hard at improving my lettering recently and know plenty of others are working on it as well. Bandjob has a very inspiring thread showcasing peoples work so let's get one started over here as well. Post your stuff here if you are looking to promote your lettering skills, looking to improve them by getting critiqued or just here to soak up any tips to help push you further.

Thanks Pitch! I remember a LOOOONG time ago you saying that you needed to work on your type. You're type has just been getting better and better.

All this type looks so sweet!

Pitch i love that bad city logo but this bugs me a tiny bit. Not sure if kyle was getting at this but the spaces between letters are all a bit different. I think it would make it a lot more clean if the 'outline' was all the same width. Sorry to step on your toes bud.

Not at all man. Yeah, when Kyle mentioned the spacing between the t and y, I noticed the spacing between the a and d. Working on it now. Definitely my biggest issue with lettering I think is the kerning. Thanks Glen.

Looking good guys. Yeah aside from the kearning I love that bad city Cody. I've really gotten into type lately and have been doing a few fun things, glad to see this thread here too. We need Zeb in it! I'll post mine when I get home

Digging the logos a lot Cody, but beside the kerning i spotted this little problem with the vanishing point. Don't want to step on your toes either, just trying to help :-)

truely awesome stuff dudes.. especially diggin Robottiger's and Smith's Canvas.. I wish I could do that.

I've been trying to get better with typography, but mainly just incorporating it into the illustration. I'll post somethin up in a bit. Maybe I can get some pointers.

Not sure how you managed that but I can assure you the vanish point was designated and done correctly.

How do you start on lettering? What's your process? Do you have an idea in your head of exactly how the letters should look, or do you start with rough shapes and start adding/removing/refining?

It's all good, I'm sure it's not perfect and there's always room to improve. I appreciate the input regardless, keep it coming.
